Interior Work Is Where Preparation Shows
On an exterior, you’re twenty feet away from the finish. Inside, people stand a foot from the trim with a cup of tea and see everything: every filled nail pop, every cut line, every patch that wasn’t primed before the colour went over it. That’s why an interior job is mostly preparation, and why the difference between a good repaint and a great one is decided before anyone opens a paint can.
So we handle the prep for you. We move your furniture ourselves, so you don’t have to clear a single room before we arrive. We cover your floors with Ram Board, a heavy-duty protective surface that stays put and stands up to foot traffic, ladders and drips. Anything that isn’t being painted gets wrapped in plastic, so your furniture, fixtures and belongings come out exactly as they went in. When we leave, the only thing that’s changed is the walls.
- Repairs Before Paint Nail pops, cracked corner bead, settled seams and water marks get filled, sanded flat and spot primed as part of the same quote. Paint over a patch that has not been primed and it flashes back through in the first year.
- You Can Stay in the House We work room by room so there is always somewhere to sit and eat, move and wrap the furniture ourselves, and vacuum at the end of every day. Everything we specify inside is low or zero VOC.
- Free Interior Design Consult Not sure which colours belong in which rooms? We’ll walk the house with you, look at how the light hits each space, and suggest colours and sheens that work with your floors, cabinets and furniture. You’ll see samples on your own walls before anything goes into the quote.
Trouble Picking Colours? Goodwell’s Got You Covered
Every homeowner who books with us gets a free colour consultation with our designer. We’ll help you choose colours that suit your home, your light and your style, so you’re not guessing from a fan deck or living with a shade you regret. It’s included with every job, at no extra cost.
Everything an Interior Repaint Needs
One scope, one crew, one quote. Here is what that actually covers.
Walls and Ceilings
The bulk of any interior job, and where shortcuts show first. Scuffed high traffic walls get washed, nail pops and settlement cracks filled, and water marks or smoke damage spot primed so they never bleed back through. Then two full coats rather than one heavy coat rolled thin. Ceilings get the same treatment, including flattening old roller flash and matching existing texture where it is staying.
- Two full coats standard, never one heavy coat
- Stain blocking primer on water marks and smoke damage
- Texture matched on patched ceilings
Drywall and Surface Repair
Most repaints start with repairs. Doorknob holes, cracked corner bead, tape seams that have let go, water damaged patches under old leaks. Our crew handles the drywall work in house, so you are not coordinating a separate trade or waiting between contractors. When we say the wall will look new, we mean the wall, not just the colour.
- Holes, cracks and tape seams repaired in house
- Water damage cut out, patched and sealed
- Sanded flat and primed so patches disappear under paint
Wallpaper Removal
Wallpaper never comes off clean. It leaves adhesive residue, torn paper face, and gouges from decades of layers. We strip it properly, score, soak, peel, then wash every trace of paste off the wall. Whatever the paper was hiding gets skim coated smooth, sealed with an adhesive blocking primer, and only then painted. Skipping any of those steps is why DIY wallpaper jobs bubble and crack within a year.
- Full paste washdown, because adhesive left behind ruins paint
- Skim coating to erase gouges and torn paper face
- Sealing primer before any finish coat
Trim, Doors and Finishing Carpentry
Trim is what your eye lands on, so it gets the most careful work. Degloss, sand, caulk every gap between casing and wall, then brush or spray a waterborne enamel that levels out like an oil finish without yellowing. We also handle the light finishing carpentry that comes with a repaint: replacing dented baseboard, re hanging doors that rub, adding casing where it is missing.
- Oil to waterborne enamel conversions on older trim
- Baseboard, casing and door replacement where needed
- Sprayed doors for a factory smooth face
Kitchens, Bathrooms and Wet Rooms
Steam, grease and daily scrubbing kill ordinary wall paint fast. In kitchens and bathrooms we degrease before anything else, treat any mildew at the source, and specify moisture resistant formulas made for wet rooms. The finish is scrubbable, so you can wipe sauce off the wall without polishing a shiny patch into it. Sheen gets matched to the room rather than running one gloss level through the whole house.
- Degrease and mildew treatment before priming
- Moisture resistant, scrubbable formulas
- Sheen matched to the room, not one gloss everywhere
Colour and Feature Walls
Picking colour from a two inch chip is how people end up repainting twice. We brush out real samples on your walls, look at them with you in morning and evening light, and flag the combinations that are going to fight your flooring or your fixed finishes. Feature walls, two tone treatments and dark dramatic colours all take extra coats and sharper lines, and we plan for that in the quote instead of charging for it later.
- Brushed out samples on your walls, in your light
- Guidance against flooring, counters and fixed finishes
- Extra coats for deep colours built into the quote

How an Interior Job Runs
-
Estimate
We walk each room with you, note the repairs and the trim condition, and provide a written scope room by room. Free, itemised, no obligation, on the spot.
-
Colour and Scheduling
Samples brushed out on your walls, then firm dates. Most main floors run three to four working days and a full house interior five to seven, and we tell you which rooms happen on which day so you can plan around it.
-
Protect, Prep, Paint
Furniture moved and wrapped, floors covered, repairs and priming done before any colour goes on. Then two full coats. Rooms vacuumed every night.
-
Your Approval
We walk the finished rooms with you under good light. Anything you want tightened, we tighten. Final payment once the job is complete, backed by a 3 year warranty in writing.
The Paint We Put Our Name Behind
We quote with named product lines, not two coats of paint. Your estimate says exactly which product goes on which surface, and everything we specify for interiors is low or zero VOC.

Interior Painting Questions
We do not quote by the square foot, because square footage does not tell you whether the trim is oil based, whether there is wallpaper under the paint, or whether the ceilings need texture matching, and those are the things that actually move the price. As a guide, from the homes we have painted around South Surrey and White Rock, our minimum interior job is $3,000. From there a main floor typically runs $3,000 to $5,000, and a full house interior $8,000 to $20,000. What pushes a job up is the amount of repair needed before anything can be painted, wallpaper and how many layers are underneath it, oil based trim that needs converting, deep colours that need extra coats, and ceiling height. Every estimate is free, walked in person, itemised by surface and product, and handed to you before we leave. The number we give you is the number you pay.
For all surfaces (ceiling, walls, trim), a main floor usually runs three to four working days including repairs. A full house interior is closer to five to seven. Wallpaper removal or heavy drywall work adds a day or two, and we tell you exactly how many in the written scope rather than discovering it halfway through. You get firm start and finish dates before we begin, not a rough window.
Two full coats as standard, never one heavy coat rolled thin to save time. Priming depends on the surface: bare drywall, patches, water marks, knots and old wallpaper adhesive all get spot primed first, and a full prime coat goes on where we are covering a dramatic colour change or a surface that has never been painted. Your scope says which surfaces are getting primed and why.
Very common in homes of a certain age around here and entirely paintable. The ceiling texture is sprayed rather than rolled, because a roller pulls the texture off. If a ceiling has been patched, we texture match the repair before painting so it disappears. If you want the ceiling texture gone altogether, that is a scraping and skim coating job and we will quote it separately so you can see what it costs before deciding.
Everything we specify for interiors is low or zero VOC, which is why most of our clients stay in the house and sleep in a freshly painted bedroom the same night. There is a faint smell for a few hours rather than the days you might remember from older oil based paints. We ventilate as we go and vacuum every evening, so the room you come back to is finished rather than a work site.
